NJASCD Executive Director Announcement
NJASCD proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Kimberley Harrington Markus as the Acting Director of the organization starting on December 1, 2022.
Kimberley has served as New Jersey’s Commissioner of Education and most recently as the Chief Education Officer for the Education Research and Development Institute. She has been recognized many times for her outstanding leadership in education with awards that include the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Arts Education, the EdTech Hero Award, the Boyer Outstanding Educator Award, and the College of New Jersey Advocacy Award.
During her 30 years as a New Jersey educator, Kimberley has always focused her attention on the cycle of teaching and learning as it impacts the outcomes for students. She places a high importance on building a strong climate and cultural foundation to sustain progress in making a difference in the lives of children. To that end, she believes in placing student voice in the forefront of conversations so that students can reach their potential by growing academically, emotionally, and physically.
